The Rotor-Gene is the most accurate and versatile real-time analyzer in the world.

It utilizes a unique centrifugal rotary design in which all samples rotate continuously at high speed in front of a common optical detector. This arrangement provides performance characteristics that far exceed those of a conventional real-time instrument.

For example, it eliminates any "position effect," so that thermal uniformity (accuracy) from well to well is ±0.01°C, about fifty times better than a typical block-based real-time instrument. Optical variation is equally accurate because the same optical path reaches all tubes. This accuracy makes exciting new applications like HRM (high resolution melt) practical and opens the door to many other innovative possibilities for real-time thermo-optical analysis.

The Rotor-Gene is also very robust and convenient: re-calibration is virtually unheard of, there are no blocks to clean (because the tubes are suspended in air), and the sample liquid is continuously wrung out of each tube. You can change well formats by simply switching rotors (there are four rotors to choose from, each with a capacity of 36 to 100 wells). There are many other unique advantages such as up to 6 separate optical channels ranging from infrared to ultraviolet. The LED excitation lamps do not fade or burn out.
