Bausch & Lomb Orbscan IIZ Corneal Topographer

The Bausch & Lomb Orbscan IIZ  is a fully integrated, multi-dimensional diagnostic system that takes diagnosis beyond simple topography.

The Orbscan IIZ acquires more than 9,000 data points in 1.5 seconds to meticulously map the entire 11 mm corneal surface, analyzing elevation and curvature measurements on the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea.

Using a scanning slit measurement system, the Orbscan IIZ provides the clinician with important diagnostic information about the cornea, iris and lens. The Orbscan IIZ also provides anterior segment data in the form of topographic surfaces.

Features:

- The B & L Orbscan IIZ provides critical information that ultimately determines a patient's candidacy for LASIK.

The Orbscan IIZ helps the surgeon analyze the shape of the cornea and any irregularities that may exist on its front and back surface.

- The Orbscan IIZ  also measures the thickness of the cornea. In order to undergo LASIK, the cornea must have enough tissue to allow for the flap and still have enough tissue to remove to compensate for the size of your refractive error.

If the cornea is too thin or shows early signs of progressive corneal thinning called keratoconus, you may be a candidate for LASEK or PRK instead of LASIK.

- The Orbscan IIZ result, called elevation topography, is a three-dimensional mapping of the eye's contours.

Some diagnostic devices measure only the frontal surface of the eye. The elevation topography available in the Orbscan IIZ allows clinicians to accurately visualize the shape of abnormal corneas, leading to more accurate diagnoses and more consistent surgical outcomes.
