The Varian Cary 50 Bio UV-Visible Spectrophotometer features a data collection speed of 80 points per second; a maximum scan speed of 24,000 nm per minute; the wavelength range of 190-1100 nm is scannable in less than 3 seconds; and measures samples up to 3 Abs. 

Excellent noise performance is achieved due to the highly focused and intense light beam, even when using small aperture microcells. 

The Varian Cary 50's super-focused beam makes it ideal for fiber optic work, offering excellent coupling efficiency and high light throughput.  Its immunity to ambient light makes it unnecessary to shield a fiber optic probe.
